I'm trying to install the VMware standalone converter into a VM of Windows 2008R2 server. This is just a server itself, not the domain controller. The install goes only so far, to about 1/3rd of the way of "copying files," and then hangs with:
Error 1310: Error writing to file: mscvp90.dll Verify that you have access to the directory.
Well, I'm logged in as the Administrator, I get the same result if I just start the install manually or with the "install as administrator" option. Also tried giving ""everyone" access to the vmware directory under Program Files (x86). Still won't install. Version of converter is vmware-converter-6.6.1-3533064.exe There are other copies of msacvp90.dll on the system, of varying size, but beyond the one located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\Resources\msvcp90.dll the rest of them are off the C:\Windows\winsxs directory tree. Size of the one off the vmware path is 557 kb - the same as a couple in the windows versions. Since it doesn't tell me which one of these it's trying to write, I assume the vmware path version.
Any ideas much appreciated as this is quite frustrating!
